July 19th, 2022 – Art/Photo Books, Antique Maps, WOBO Heineken.
Presenting our very first book auction, featuring a collection of highly sought-after art and photo books from a noted Canadian art dealer. A collection of Canadian and other antique maps from a private collection in Brighton, Ontario.
An extremely rare first edition of the Manifesto of The Communist Party in Esperanto [MANIFESTO DE LA KOMUNISTA PARTIO DE KAROLO MARKS KAJ FREDERIKO ENGLES] translated by Arturo Baker. Chicago, 1908.
Lastly, a unique and rare find, the ultimate expression of Mid-Century Modern design, a collection of over 200 Heineken World Bottles (or WOBO), the “brick bottle”. These iconic bottles were produced in 1963 by Alfred Heineken after a trip to the Caribbean where Heineken noted the vast waste of discarded bottles and the lack of inexpensive building materials. He ingeniously came up with the idea of designing bottles that were made to interlock as bricks.
